Yesterday, I had the pleasure of welcoming European Council President António Costa to Brussels. We had the opportunity to exchange views on a range of strategic European dossiers, set against the backdrop of today’s turbulent geopolitical context.

Our discussions focused on the main political priorities for the months ahead, such as:

• Strengthening Europe’s competitiveness by deepening the internal market.
• The upcoming negotiations on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework and their impact at national level.
• The continued importance of unity and support for Ukraine.
• Migration, a sensitive and shared challenge across Member States.

I highly value President Costa’s constructive and connecting approach, which helps create the space for genuine strategic debate among European leaders.

In a time of global uncertainty, close cooperation and open dialogue within the EU remain crucial.
