Honoured to welcome the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of his State Visit to Belgium.

This visit highlights the deep and longstanding friendship between our two nations. The Italian community in Belgium has played an essential role in shaping our society, from the post-war years, with Italian labourers working in coal mines, to today’s generation of entrepreneurs, researchers, and creative minds.

Our discussion also reaffirmed our common ambition to strengthen cooperation in key sectors where Belgian and Italian expertise meet and mutually reinforce each other such as energy, life sciences, defence industry, space and innovation.
